Time: March 12, 2014 07:15 PM -- Multiday Location: Description: During our Wednesday night Lenten services we will be reflecting on the G.P.S. or God’s Plan of Salvation. Just as a GPS maps out our route from one location to another, God’s Plan of Salvation shows Jesus Christ foreknew the route to our salvation and was actively directing everything, from His triumphal entry to His trial with Pilate, towards the cross. What makes this even more amazing is that Jesus did so willingly! He did not accidentally find Himself on the cross; He purposefully gave Himself up for us. In Jesus’ final days before His crucifixion it becomes clear that each and every moment is being carefully orchestrated by our Lord so that it is done according to His will and for His purposes: Jesus tells His disciples that He will be handed over at the Passover. (Matt. 26:2) Jesus purposely chooses the location for the Passover feast so they will not be interrupted. (Luke 22:7-13) Jesus predicts Peter’s denial and offers Him comfort before the fact. (Luke 22:31-32) Jesus decides the hour of His betrayal. (Matthew 26:45-46) Jesus decides the way in which He will be captured. (Matt. 26:51-54) Jesus’ last words to Pilate show that God is ultimately in control, not the rulers of this world. (John 19:11) As we reflect on the power and love of our Savior who willingly endured all our punishment in our place, we are reminded that God is also in control of our lives. As the Lord once spoke through the prophet Jeremiah, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 19:11) God’s plan for you was fulfilled at the cross and the empty tomb, and will come to fruition in the resurrection of your body on the last day. We hope you will join us each Wednesday night (starting Ash Wednesday, March 5th) as we retrace the G.P.S. route and discover the power and love that Jesus demonstrated along the way. Soup supper is served at 5:30 pm with an abbreviated Holy Cross University starting at 6:30 pm. Worship follows at 7:15 pm.
